Launching of the Learning-Service Programme in Paraguay

In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Paraguay and Juntos por la Educación [Together for Education], a civil society organisation, CLAYSS began to develop the "Service-Learning Programme" in Paraguay, aimed at teachers, school authorities, supervisors and government officials,  to disseminate the SL pedagogy in that country.
This SL programme is introduced in the context of the project "Dinamización de espacios participativos con la comunidad educativa y la sociedad civil [Dynamism of participatory spaces with the educational community and civil society]" of the Ministry of Education and Science.
On 18th May, it began with an open lecture by Nieves Tapia, followed by a discussion with Paraguayan authorities and specialists. On 6th June, training began for the teachers and heads of ten educational institutions, as well as specialists from the Pedagogical Innovation Unit (UPI, Spanish acronym) and civil servants from different departments of the Ministry of Education and Science.
As a result, service-learning projects are expected to be implemented in all participating educational institutions. In addition, it is expected to provide technical and pedagogical training to teachers, school authorities, supervisors and civil servants to develop a programme focused on the SL pedagogy for secondary schools in rural and urban communities in Paraguay.
