CLAYSS travels to Central and Eastern Europe and participates in several activities in the region

CLAYSS' work with partners in Central and Eastern Europe did not stop during the pandemic. Given the recent possibility of resuming travel, part of the team joined the different activities planned for June and July.
Luz Avruj, coordinator of the CEE Programme, Maria Rosa Tapia, coordinator of Uniservitate and Candelaria Ferrara, coordinator of the Uniservitate regional hubs, participated in the 5th Regional Service-Learning Week in Sarajevo on 27th and 28th June.
On the first day of the event, Maria Rosa Tapia gave the opening lecture keynote speech. For the first time, there was a forum for public officials interested in service-learning, with participants from Bosnia, Kosovo and Serbia. Luz Avruj was in charge of this event and Candelaria Ferrara participated in and coordinated two simultaneous sessions: one on hybrid service-learning —with María Rosa Tapia— and the other on the effect of service-learning.

MIOS was the host of the event where more than 100 educators from Bosnia Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Romania and Montenegro participated, and CLAYSS was the partner organization in Bosnia Herzegovina, with the support of the Service-Learning Network of the region. There were talks by specialists trained in the region in recent years, as well as workshops and presentations of the awarded projects of the two previous editions of the Regional Award (2020 and 2021).

Luz Avruj also participated as a keynote speaker in an activity by a partner in Germany, Lernen Durch Engagement, which offered training to schools and organizations from Greece and Portugal. In this regard, the team visited a secondary school in Berlin that systematized service-learning projects and institutionalized practice. There were also working meetings to plan joint-work projects, especially a service-learning European network in which they have already been working together.

She also offered an open and free lecture in Sarajevo on service-learning, educational innovation and social transformation, together  with the numerous activities and the series "20 training sessions in 20 cities."
