Uniservitate Regional Meeting at the Catholic University of Australia

During the third week of March, the meeting of the Asia-Oceania regional hub was held at the Catholic University of Australia in Melbourne, Australia. The director, Jon Alcazar, and the service-learning coordinator, Niku Vicente, from the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) of De La Salle University, Philippines, joined in this visit. Professor Riju Sharma, director of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Assam Don Bosco University, India, and Dr Miao-Ju Chwo, director of the Service-Learning Center, associate professor of the Department of Nursing, School of Medicine of the Fu Jen Catholic University, Taiwan, also participated. Maria Rosa Tapia, coordinator of the Uniservitate Programme, and Candelaria Ferrara, coordinator of regional hubs, participated on behalf of the Latin American Center for Service-Learning (CLAYSS). That was a busy week full of activities: it started with a walking tour of the Fitzroy neighbourhood, where the university has been working with institutions and community organisations to meet the needs of that neighbourhood; it finished with a series of talks —and lunch— entitled "Service-Learning in Higher Education – International Perspectives." In a hybrid format, delegation members presented and shared their experiences while analysing the role of service-learning in higher education and its transformative capacity as a pedagogy.
