Uniservitate participates in the International Conference on Service-Learning in Bethlehem, Palestine
The International Conference "Current Status and Future Prospects of Service-Learning", held on the 25th and 26th May, was organised by the only Catholic university in the Holy Land, the University of Bethlehem. This unique event in the region brought together for the first time —in person— the representatives from the universities of the Uniservitate Hub for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
The conference had the support of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mahmoud, Dr. Abu Mowais, who held a video call to present several actions that strengthen the service-learning implementation in the region; Maria Rosa Tapia, Higher Education and Uniservitate Programme Coordinator, and Candelaria Ferrara, Uniservitate Regional Hub Coordinator, attended representing CLAYSS. They also visited a Bedouin community close to the Dead Sea and a historic refugee camp —two active student-led projects with great benefits for the community.
Never in more than fifty years of Bethlehem University's history and work in service-learning were there sessions and workshops such as the ones held.
The hub members sharing projects and reflections on diverse topics of interest were the following: the Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and Bethlehem University (BU).
