Solidarity Youth in Tucumán, Argentina

The Mancopa Middle School, located in the Leales department in Tucumán, Argentina, has been working for years on the service-learning project "Políticas de Inclusión Social como impulsores de la continuidad de Estudios Superiores [Social Inclusion Policies to promote the pursuit of Higher Education]." This month we would like to highlight the work of the institution's senior students, true entrepreneurs, restless and curious, who collect information about the different options offered by higher education institutions and universities. They and their teachers use it for talks and workshops to share with other students from neighbouring schools. The project proves encouraging and inspiring for the other schools, generating curiosity and interest in those about to finish school. The project won an honourable mention of the Presidential Award Solidarity Schools in 2018 and was presented during the 23rd International Service-Learning Conference that CLAYSS hosts every year —held online in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The school head María Eugenia Bevacqua, as a panellist representing the school, urged others to join in these types of actions and projects that encourage students to continue their studies after secondary school, no matter which part of the world they are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E-5Wrt2VW0 [video in Spanish].
