CLAYSS as part of the European Summit on Service-Learning, Democracy and Civic Engagement

Over the last two years, the European Association of Service-Learning in Higher Education (EASLHE) has been developing an academic-research project linking service-learning, citizenship education, democracy and civic engagement in European higher education; in the context of this project, the European Summit on Service-Learning, Democracy and Civic Engagement was held on 12th and 13th June at the University of the Balearic Islands, with the support of the Asociación Española de Aprendizaje-Servicio Universitario [Spanish Association of University Service-Learning].

Representatives from 27 countries came together to discuss the different aspects of service-learning institutionalisation in higher education in Europe. The event included panels and interactive sessions in a hybrid format; CLAYSS added the participation of Luz Avruj, Institutional Relations and Network Coordinator, during the live-streaming sessions.

Part of the Green Paper —resulting from two-year work— was presented and the subject of debate at the summit, with great success regarding participation and quality of the contributions. This document is the basis to draft the White Paper for the Institutionalisation of Service-Learning in European Higher Education.
